The valleys west of Göreme are best seen at the end of the day, when the tuff turns pink and the dust hangs in the light. A quad gets you into them on tracks a minibus cannot use, and the route strings together the four that photograph best: Rose and Red, Sword Valley, and Love Valley with its famous cones.
You are collected about two and a half hours before sunset and driven to the base, where the equipment and a short safety briefing are handed over. The machines are automatic and easy to ride — no licence or experience required. We stop at the best viewpoints for photographs, including the old village of Çavuşin, and finish as the sun goes down.
